Writing from Reading: Young Author/Illustrators

Picturebooks make an excellent starting point for children’s writing. They provide the stimulus and the model for many original, inventive ideas which can lead to book making.

Make children into writers for real reasons. Turn them into authors and illustrators!

Consider some of the book titles below which can be used as stimuli for 3 – 11 years old children’s book making. All children like making books – it gives them a reason for their writing. In addition to picturebooks, children love to read comics, graphic novels and fusion texts as well as popular culture texts such as Peppa Pig, Bob the Builder, Harry Potter and many others. They all have their part to play in motivating children to become writers.

If you would like Janet to do some bookmaking with the children in your school please contact her.
